Over 200 papers on the Covid theme
“Stories from StoryRiders 2020” Published – Licosia Edizioni
The winners of “Common People” have been awarded: the literary competition of “StoryRIDERS” that has come to the end of its VI edition, in the three days dedicated to stories on the theme of Covid, with exceptional protagonists, guests at the Palazzo Baronale de Conciliis. Reserved for writers and photographers, coming from all over Italy - and not only, the participation has met with considerable success, establishing itself as a competition that goes well beyond the medieval village of Torchiara, in Cilento, where it is proposed and developed.
For the second consecutive year, Licosia Edizioni, a publishing house from Ogliastro Cilento, will publish the works and texts that the jury deemed most interesting in the book “Racconti da StoryRIDERS 2020”. “I am very satisfied” – declared Angela Riccio, creator of the event and patron of the historic residence Borgo Riccio, which has become the literary salon that offers hospitality to all participants. The theme of the Covid-19 pandemic, chosen as the common thread for this year's stories, in the competition announcement launched last May, was rewarding and educational, and it could not have been otherwise. “The over 200 stories received from everywhere strengthen our belief that this type of initiative is essential to promote an area rich in history and culture like Cilento” – adds Riccio – “and, above all, in a historical period like this, to create connections for discussion on such a delicate topic that has shaken everyone's lives”. Among the many stories, more than double compared to last year, fifteen were selected for publication, in addition to the three winners and the two Special Jury Prizes.
Seventeen stories from the Campania region, compared to twenty-three from Lombardy, followed by eleven from Veneto and Lazio, up to Switzerland. Everyone agreed that the first prize was awarded to Alberto Sartoni, from Rome, with his story “La poltrona rossa”; the second prize went to Silvia Favaretto, from Venice who presented “Brutta” while third place went to Emanuele Cavarra, a Sicilian from Ragusa, for his “Salvato dal corona virus”. The overall prize for best photography went to Davide Buzzi, an artist from Acquarossa, Switzerland, for the image “Piazza Collegiata in Bellinzona, during the lockdown/Coronavirus 2020”. The Special Jury Prizes were awarded to Marta Borroni from Tuscany for “Tu come stai?” and Marco Fusi, from Nova Milanese, with the story entitled “Coda da Covid”. A jury that did not give discounts, chaired by Raffaele Aragona, one of the founders of Oplepo in Italy, as well as author of the famous Zanichelli dictionaries, by Gennaro Guida writer of children's books - the latest "Cento parole", competing for the Rodari Prize, former Councilor for Culture and Tourism of Torchiara and Nunziante Mastrolia, soul and owner of the publishing house Licosia. The book "Racconti da StoryRiders 2020" is available on the most important online stores.
