Two more BusItalia drivers attacked, unions tell the Prefect: "Enough is enough"
Ua morning of terror that the driver and passengers experienced on board a BusItalia vehicle near the hamlet of Cappelle. According to the employee's story, in fact, a young man on a scooter chased the public transport vehicle and heard at least two shots. It is not known whether with a real gun or a blank gun: the police were alerted, but in the meantime the young man had fled and disappeared without a trace.
Another attack was recorded in Mercato San Severino, this time involving a motorist for traffic reasons. Two incidents within a few hours of each other, which raised the alarm of the unions: "We express our outrage and condemnation for the umpteenth incidents of aggression perpetrated this morning by thugs, in two different municipalities of our province, against two drivers of Busitalia Campania to whom we extend our full solidarity", write Cgil, Cisl and Uil.
"These are just the latest episodes, along with the cases of threats with broken glass bottles, knives clearly displayed, stab wounds suffered that have put workers' lives at risk, without forgetting the countless micro episodes of aggression and arguments of all kinds against bus drivers and ticket inspectors, more often than not forgotten that are now increasingly being recorded. It is necessary to pay maximum attention to the issue of safety on local public transport, drivers and users cannot be left at the mercy of such criminals, often drunk and dedicated to pickpocketing, therefore investments are needed to make buses safer, just as targeted interventions by the police are necessary on the most sensitive lines and times. For this reason we have already asked for the establishment of a joint table with the companies and the Prefecture of Salerno to protect the safety of all those involved", concludes the joint note of the trade unions.
