SGang specializing in home burglaries busted, 13 arrests.
A gang of Roma and Italians, based in Castel Volturno, responsible for at least thirty robberies and housebreakings in Campania and other regions, has been dismantled by the Police with 13 arrests; ten suspects ended up in prison, three under house arrest. The measures were issued by the investigating judge of the court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere. The gang was led by Roma of Serbian origin, living in the Cupa Perillo camp in Scampia, a neighborhood of the Neapolitan capital; when this morning the police officers of the Caserta and Naples Mobile Squads went to pick up the suspects, they had difficulty extricating themselves from the mountains of waste and the many children playing there; the loot from numerous thefts was also found. The Italians had a secondary role, more of a logistical support. The investigation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, started from a robbery committed by five members of the group - four went into action and one acted as lookout - in the home of a businesswoman in Casagiove, a municipality bordering Caserta.
The thieves - it emerged on that occasion - forced the locks and removed the safe in the wall, waking up the owner of the house who was sleeping; the woman was then immobilized and the bandits ran away. The Caserta Flying Squad later discovered that the gang had committed dozens of robberies in Campania, Calabria, Basilicata, Lazio, moving at great speed using cars registered to front men and with boosted engines, capable of losing the cars of the police. It was then discovered that the thieves had dedicated telephone numbers, and were in contact with each other on the phone even during the robberies.
