Tomorrow acting masterclass with young actors, on Sunday he meets the public collecting the career award of the Social World Film Festival
Bewitched by Billy Wilder's "Avanti!" he came to Naples as a tourist in 1978 and stayed for eight years. Now the American actor Tomas Arana returns to Campania as a special guest of the tenth edition of the Social World Film Festival in Vico Equense directed by the director and producer Giuseppe Alessio Nuzzo. He will stay two days in the Sorrento Peninsula to hold an acting masterclass, tomorrow, October 10, at 19 pm in collaboration with the University of Cinema.
A great character actor, Arana has starred in numerous cult films. He is the Quinto in Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" alongside Russell Crowe and Joaquin Phoenix. He plays Kevin Costner's antagonist in Mick Jackson's "The Bodyguard" with Whitney Huston. And again in "The Last Temptation of Christ", "The Hunt for Red October", "LA Confidential", "Pearl Harbor", "The Bourne Supremacy", working with directors of the caliber of Martin Scorsese, John McTiernan, Curtis Hanson, Edward Zwick.
On Sunday 11 October at 19 pm, he will walk the red carpet at Castello Giusso to tell his story to the audience interviewed by Roberta Scardola and collect the Lifetime Achievement Award. The event can also be followed in live streaming on the festival's social channels and thanks to the new platform with community at www.socialfestival.com/live. Following from 21 pm at the Sala Troisi of the Teatro Mio there will be a screening of the feature film “La partita” by Francesco Carnesecchi with Francesco Pannofino, Alberto Di Stasio, Giorgio Colangeli.
The day's activities will start at 10 am in the Sala Troisi of the Teatro mio with screenings and meetings, moderated by Emanuele Donadio, of the International Competition section: “Reservoir” by Kim St-Pierre (Canada, 87'), “Kaddish” by Kostantin Fam (Russia, Belarus, 87'). At the same time, in the Sala Rosi of the Cinema Museum in the Ancient Palace of the city, screenings and meetings will be held, moderated by Teresa Perna, of the International Competition section: “Bab sebta” by Randa Maroufi (Morocco, France, 20'), “Everything changes” by Cristiano Bendinelli (Italy, Japan, Thailand, 60'), “Ndoto ya Samira” by Nino Tropiano (Italy, Ireland, Tanzania, 90').
From 11 am at the Sala De Filippo of SS. Trinità e Paradiso there will be screenings and meetings, moderated by Adriana Serrapica, of the International Competition section: “All inclusive” by Teemu Nikki (Finland, 15′), “Anna” by Dekel Berenson (Israel, 15′), “Ayaan” by Alies Sluiter (Australia, 16′), “Da yie” by Anthony Nti (Ghana, Belgium, 20′), “Delphine” by Chloé Robichaud (Canada, 14′), “The marvelous misadventures of the stone lady” by Gabriel Abrantes (Portugal, France, 18′).
In the afternoon, activities will resume at 16 pm at the Sala Sordi of the Asturi Museum with the conference-meeting, moderated by Annalisa Donnarumma and Francesca Ferrara with those accredited to the Young Film Market on various topics: “Fundraising: how to intercept funding for cinema?” meeting with the expert and producer Andrea Fantoma; “Film co-production: how to create synergies for new projects” meeting with the producer Andrette Lo Conte; “Film distribution: pre and post Covid-19”, meeting with Lucy De Crescenzo of Europictures and Derio Di Pumpo of Officine UBU. At the same time at the Sala De Filippo of the SS. Trinity and Paradise there will be screenings and meetings, moderated by Adriana Serrapica, of the International Competition section: “Rebel” by Pier-Philippe Chevigny (Canada, 15′), “Kometa” by Irina Obidova (Russia, 12′), “Solar plexus” by David McShane (England, 8′), “Sticker” by Georgi M.
