De Laurentiis: 'I had an appointment with Maradona, we are preparing a TV documentary on the history of Napoli'.
A three-season TV documentary chronicling the history of Napoli Calcio from its inception to the present day. President Aurelio De Laurentiis has been working on it for about a year, announcing it after the unveiling of a large mural at the Mostra della Cumana station, showcasing some of the Azzurri's most important players and coaches since 1926. "We wanted to tell the story of Napoli in an innovative way," De Laurentiis explained, "with lots of matches, interviews, commentary, and music. We'll probably go into production in January, and the first season will most likely be available at the start of the new football season."
The Napoli owner reveals that, with his son, he had already organized a trip to Argentina to interview Maradona. "We wanted to hear Diego's genius on these topics - he says - when I learned that he had passed away I was astonished in front of a myth that disappears for a moment and then reappears with all his overbearing personality and strength".
De Laurentiis also comments on the new name of the stadium in Naples, from San Paolo to Maradona in honor of the Pibe de oro. “It was always my idea to change the name – he recalls – now we have done it, it was also an idea of de Magistris that I respect and share. But there are already those who are raising controversy saying that San Paolo should have been kept in the name. I think that a stadium of an important team, called Maradona Stadium or Arena is the best thing”.

The communication difficulties with the Municipality of a few years ago seem to be definitively behind us. "We have agreed on everything - the president reasons - and we have renewed the agreement. We will discuss with de Magistris how to create, inside the stadium, a virtual museum also dedicated to Naples and Maradona, where the various visitors will be able to, by putting on a helmet, take part in the matches and play with or against Maradona and the other favourites of current or past football".
The mayor of Naples, Luigi de Magistris, and the president of Ssc Napoli, Aurelio De Laurentiis, actually met yesterday. A meeting defined by a cordial and fruitful note, lasting an hour, focused on the idea of creating together, inside the stadium, a museum of Napoli and of the Neapolitan and Argentine champion.
