Statement by UGL General Secretary Paolo Capone regarding the accident at work in which a 47-year-old man lost his life in Salerno, falling from a height of six meters while carrying out maintenance work.
"L 'UGL expresses its condolences to the family of the 47-year-old man who lost his life in an accident at work in Salerno. There is a need for a greater culture of safety at work, more checks and adequate training for staff, especially where tasks at risk of injury are carried out. Life is sacred and must be protected; it is not possible to stand by helplessly and watch these silent massacres. In this sense, UGL is on tour in Italy with the event 'Working to Live' aimed at raising public awareness of the sad and widespread phenomenon of so-called 'white deaths'”.
