Environmental checks in Acerra and Giugliano: seizures and reports
Last October, the military of the Marigliano Forestry Carabinieri Station blocked excavation work carried out for the adaptation of the electrical line and the optical fiber in the industrial area of Acerra because there was waste mixed with the soil. For this reason, more in-depth surveys were carried out together with the ARPAC personnel.
In an area of approximately 100 square meters, special waste was found buried: mixed waste from construction and demolition activities.
The area has been seized for subsequent remediation. The amount of special waste buried is currently unknown.
Two other sites seized in October by the Carabinieri and still in the same area remain under precautionary constraint. In excavations 2 meters deep, plastic, iron and construction waste mixed with topsoil were found.
In Giugliano in Campania, however, the Carabinieri Forestali - during the services aimed at combating environmental crimes - found and seized in the Garofalo area a sheet metal artifact of about 10 square meters full of special but not dangerous waste. The sole director of the adjacent agricultural company was reported.
