Cutting of the municipal forest, in Perdifumo, after forty years. The municipal body, led by the mayor Vincenzo Paolillo, has entrusted the works that will allow to protect the hydrogeological and landscape structure of the municipal territory, preserving the qualities of this beautiful forest.
This is a historic result, given that the forestry activity of the municipal forest had been missing since the 80s. With the approval of the Forest Management Plan, which took place under the Paolillo Administration, the Authority was thus able to start the entire bureaucratic process in order to allow the assignment of the works.
The felling will affect 16 hectares of forest, now practically abandoned, characterized by the presence of diseased, dangerous or dry plants, which constitute a serious threat to the forest ecosystem, especially from a hydrogeological point of view. The forestry activity, in addition to safeguarding the forest, located in the heart of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, will allow the Municipal Authority to collect 87 thousand euros for the sale of wood.
"It is an intervention of fundamental importance for the sustainability of the forest, which has practically not been cared for forty years - says the deputy mayor of Perdifumo, Rosaria Malandrino - This work allows us to eliminate the diseased part of the forest, favoring the rebirth of healthy plants, and at the same time to give greater stability to the soil, without disturbing the water regime. Furthermore, this forestry activity also represents an economic source for our Authority which will collect 87 thousand from the sale of wood".
