Clan cartel that smuggled cigarettes from the East busted: 13 precautionary measures.
The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples has executed, between the provinces of Naples, Caserta, Florence and Ravenna, an order issued by the GIP of the Court of Naples, which has ordered, following detailed investigations coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, precautionary measures against 13 suspects, suspected of criminal association dedicated to the smuggling of cigarettes from Eastern Europe.
Four subjects are under house arrest and 9 are required to report to the judicial police; to these are added another 6 people against whom the notice of the conclusion of the investigations has been notified.
The defendants are responsible, in various capacities, for the introduction, sale, transportation, purchase and possession of foreign manufactured tobacco in the Campania region.
In conjunction with the personal precautionary measures, the Guardia di Finanza, following economic and patrimonial investigations, also proceeded to seize shares in 3 companies, due to the disproportion between the income regularly received and declared and the actual standard of living.
The investigative activities, including those of a technical nature, were conducted by the financial police of the Pozzuoli Company and allowed to document the existence of 5 criminal structures operating permanently and in an associative form in the Municipalities of Quarto, Marano, Melito di Napoli, Mugnano and in the Rione Sanità of the Neapolitan capital.
During the investigations, which lasted over 2 years, a total of 4 house arrests were carried out, 11 in flagrante delicto, 40 people were reported and approximately 5 tons of foreign manufactured tobacco, 12 motor vehicles and 13 boxes and garages were seized.
