This morning the Prefect of Naples, Marco Valentini, went to the Municipality of Calvizzano for an institutional visit.
The Prefect was welcomed by the Mayor, Giacomo Pirozzi, with whom he discussed the most relevant issues of the city area of reference, highly urbanized and located in the Giugliano countryside north-west of Naples which also includes the municipalities of Marano, Mugnano, Villaricca, Qualiano and Giugliano in Campania.
The Prefect then visited the local Carabinieri Station, meeting the personnel who work daily in the area.
Subsequently, the Prefect witnessed the beginning of the demolition operations of the illegal building built a few years ago by the Cesarano family, belonging to the Camorra clan of the same name operating in the area in question.
The process leading up to the demolition – seizure, demolition order and acquisition of the building as part of the municipal heritage – was initiated by the Municipality, which at the time was governed by a commissioner.
The affair takes on a high symbolic value and represents an important and effective response by the State against illegality.
