An employee of the Municipality of Cercola tested positive for the English variant of Covid, and Mayor Vincenzo Fiengo closed the town hall until February 27 to allow for mass screening of staff and councilors who frequent the offices.
The mayor himself made it known, also announcing that a student from a school in the area has tested positive for the same variant, and that the closure of the entire complex is being evaluated. "Unfortunately, the English variant has also arrived in Cercola - the mayor wrote on his Facebook page - to date we have three cases, and we are working with the competent bodies for the decisions to be taken". Fiengo, meanwhile, has signed the ordinance for the closure of the Municipality until the 27th, in which he also writes that another employee has tested positive for an antigen swab, and that therefore it will be necessary to proceed with the tracing of contacts relating to the new case as well.
"It seems appropriate - wrote the mayor - to proceed with a mass screening of the employees, the civil service and the Council who frequent the municipal offices on a daily basis, to avoid any outbreaks that could put the health of workers and users at risk as well as the spread of the virus in the city given the high contagiousness of the English variant".
