Over 113 million cases of Covid have been diagnosed worldwide since the beginning of the pandemic and there have been more than 2,5 million deaths.
The data reported by Johns Hopkins University speak of 113.002.186 infections and 2.507.624 deaths globally. The United States is the most affected country: the confirmed cases are 28.413.373 with 508.307 deaths. Despite the regression of infections, the blood tribute that the United States pays daily to the Covid-19 epidemic remains very high. Yesterday, in fact, at least 2.453 new deaths from coronavirus and 77.456 additional infections were counted.
Over the past week, there have been an average of 69.400 new cases per day, a 32% decrease from the average of the previous two weeks. To date, 28 people in the US have been affected by the disease, and 411 of them have lost their lives. In the meantime, the mass vaccination campaign continues in every corner of the federation: just yesterday, fifty million doses administered were exceeded, a milestone celebrated by President Joe Biden for whom "the more people are vaccinated, the faster we will defeat this pandemic".
In a short speech, the White House tenant reiterated one of the salient slogans of his electoral campaign, that of "injecting 100 million anti-Covid vaccines into the arms of citizens in my first 100 days as president". Biden compared the current vaccination rate with that of the Trump administration, underlining that the six million weekly administrations will go up to twelve next week. In any case, the president remarked, it is better to avoid "singing victory" because "Not everything is resolved. We have a long way to go", even if the time needed to get to "the day when everything returns to normal depends on each of us".
