There is also a prison police officer among those involved in the anti-drug blitz centered on the Fuorni prison in Salerno.
SIn fact, there are 47 recipients of the precautionary measures notified this morning by the State Police of Salerno together with the Penitentiary Police Corps (Central Investigative Unit), on behalf of the District Attorney's Office of Salerno. The judge has ordered house arrest for the prison officer.
A total of 46 of the 47 measures issued were notified, 25 in prison, 17 under house arrest and 4 orders to remain in residence. The crimes contested by the Salerno Prosecutor's Office, to varying degrees, are criminal association aimed at the possession and trafficking of drugs, private violence, extortion and illegal possession of weapons.
Aldo Di Giacomo, General Secretary of the Penitentiary Police Union S.PP, intervenes on the matter and explains: "Today's operation bears witness to what we have been saying for some time and repeated a few days ago in an online conference: inside prisons there is drug dealing worth tens of millions of euros. Behind the dealing lies the maintenance of power both inside Italian prisons and outside. In prisons, in addition to the obvious financial gain, supplying drugs to one's affiliates serves first and foremost to maintain power over the inmates. In many cases, the large profits serve to keep the 'black' economy afloat, which guarantees income to the families of inmates belonging to the clans. As for the phenomenon of cell phones, I have been maintaining for some time that criminals command from their cells by giving orders to the men of the clans in the territory".
