In Campania 60 thousand vaccine doses for over 80s, 21 thousand for school staff
"The inequality with other regions in the distribution of vaccines remains. Nevertheless, these results have been achieved in Campania: as of 17:24 p.m. today, Wednesday 2021 February 59.579, 80 vaccines have been administered in Campania for the "over 21.606" category and 192.315 for the school staff category. At the same time today, 80 "over 21.606" people have signed up, and XNUMX school staff have signed up."
Thus, in a statement, the governor of Campania, Vincenzo De Luca. Meanwhile, the Campania Region is preparing all the documentation for the launch of the second phase of vaccination which will include first of all people with pathologies, including younger citizens. The vaccination priorities in the second phase will be drawn up following the guidelines of the Ministry of Health which identifies six age groups: category 1 includes extremely vulnerable people, understood as those affected by conditions that due to pre-existing organ damage, or who due to a compromised immune response to SARS-CoV-2 have a particularly high risk of developing serious or lethal forms of COVID-19, starting from 16 years of age; in the second category, people aged between 75 and 79 years, followed by people aged between 70 and 74 years (category 3), people with increased clinical risk if infected by SARS-CoV-2 from 16 years of age up to 69 years of age (category 4), people aged between 55 and 69 years without conditions that increase clinical risk (category 5); people aged between 18 and 54 years without conditions that increase clinical risk (category 6).
The planning for the start of the second phase is obviously being done while waiting for a considerable dose of vaccines, which Campania is waiting for and is planning for the coming months. Sources from the Region specify that vaccine deliveries will have to increase significantly because at the current rate, months will pass before reaching 70% of the Campania population, therefore about 4 million citizens, and having herd immunity. At the moment, Campania has vaccinated 334.881 people, with 78,1% of the 428.755 doses received, one of the highest percentages in Italy. Campania's vaccination campaign is currently in full swing for people over 80 and for teachers, while the lists of law enforcement and firefighters are arriving from the competent ministries to begin their vaccination with the AstraZeneca doses that are currently reserved for teachers, while the elderly are being administered the Pfizer vaccine.
