There was a continuous exchange of money between entrepreneurs interested in having contracts and the officials of the Caserta ASL, responsible for granting them, in particular to the Department of Mental Health (DSM).
A corruption channel that is always open and also fueled by expensive gifts to the wives of officials, such as Louis Vuitton bags. This emerges from the investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of Naples North - Prosecutor Francesco Greco and substitute Giovanni Corona - which led to 12 people, including officials, employees and entrepreneurs, being placed under house arrest by order of the investigating judge of the Naples North court, while six other people were notified of interdictory measures.
Not just money, but expensive handbags worth thousands of euros given to the wives of officials of the ASL of Caserta who worked at the Department of Mental Health involved in the investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of Naples North. Buying bags and even jewelry, entrepreneurs who wanted to rig the ASL contracts in this way. Among those arrested, is the former official of the Department Luigi Carrizzone, a central figure in the investigation. According to the prosecutors, he received bribes and would have managed as a de facto partner two psychiatric rehabilitation facilities to which he sent the patients he was treating as a medical official of the ASL, obviously at the expense of the health company. Under house arrest, the ASL psychiatrist Nicola Bonacci, the employee Antonio Stabile. Then there are the arrested entrepreneurs, accused of having signed corrupt agreements including the entrepreneur of Sessa Aurunca, Michele Schiavone, owner of RSA and centers for psychiatric rehabilitation, father of Massimo, former president of the municipal council of Sessa Aurunca; and Cuono Puzone, president of the Misericordia di Caivano, a private association that carries out the 118 emergency service in the Caserta area.
Puzone is accused of having paid bribes to DSM officials to obtain some contracts relating to the transport of mentally ill patients. House arrest also for two construction contractors who carried out work for the ASL, namely Alberto Marino from Casaluce and Antonio Papa from Marano di Napoli, and for an accountant from Teverola, Antonio Scarpa.
Among those under investigation is the president of the regional council Gennaro Oliviero, who in a note on Facebook reiterates "I hope that this matter will be clarified immediately in the interest of all". "I learned of the investigation from the press - underlines the head of the legislative assembly of Campania -. I am at the disposal of the judicial authority. I do not know what the accusation is, we will understand more as soon as I can read the documents. I have already declared my availability to want to confer with the judicial authority".
