On Thursday 25 February at 18:00, the exhibition Mary Cinque. My favorite things, dedicated to the artist's most recent production, opens to the public online on the digital channels of the Museo FRaC.
"The exhibition of Mary Cinque's works - says Gianfranco Valiante, mayor of Baronissi - turns attention to a young artist from Campania who has been working for a long time between the Amalfi Coast, London and Los Angeles. An exhibition promoted by the Regional Museum-Fund of Contemporary Art of Baronissi which, on the one hand confirms our support for young artists in the area, on the other hand is the bearer of a message of joy and positivity in such a delicate moment for our country, which, despite the many difficulties, actively participates in mending the many wounds that our society is suffering ".
In this sense, the collection of works belonging to Mary Cinque's recent production, between oil pastels and digital painting, is a celebration of everyday life and the small joys that it offers us.
“Like the pages of an album – reveals Pasquale Ruocco, curator of the exhibition – the recent works created by Mary Cinque follow one another. Sheets, some of which are exhibited at the Palü gallery in St Moritz, between the end of 2019 and the beginning of 2020, from which emerge memories of places, in particular London, where she lived in recent years, and of the Amalfi Coast, of travels, of people, but also of passions and hopes, wrapped in a sense of nostalgia for those little things that silently, now we are starting to notice more, color our daily lives […]. The inspiration comes from the famous song by Oscar Hemmerstein II and Richards Rogers, My favorite things, whose words seem to vibrate in the soft and brilliant matter of oil pastels, as well as in the electronic substance of digital painting, in a work still capable of reflecting on the role of the image in the history of art, taking into account its technological evolutions, for example from the invention of Sennelier's pastels to the possibilities offered by modern graphic tablets. […] Mary Cinque seems to address, through an intimate narration, the current state of things, working on what we lack, exalting what should be precious to us, sharing and conviviality, translated as images of a joie de vivre to be renewed, in which terms such as lockdown and social distancing exclusively represent the moment in which we have rediscovered our humanity”.
The exhibition will be visible online until March 19.
