Yet another assault on an ANM driver by a motorcyclist for trivial traffic reasons.
It happened in the Chiaia neighborhood, in the heart of the City, around 18.30:140 p.m. A driver, on duty on the XNUMX line, crossed paths with a man on a scooter, who was going the wrong way, in the lane of Via Giordano Bruno, in Riviera di Chiaia. The motorcyclist demanded that the bus, arriving at the stop, give him priority, in defiance of the highway code. Annoyed at not being able to stop the bus immediately, the man chased the vehicle, catching up with it at the next stop. At that point he stopped the scooter he was riding in front of the bus, to prevent it from starting again, and violently threw himself, kicking and punching, at the front door, attempting, fortunately in vain, to climb aboard and physically attack the driver.
The terrified passengers ran away from the still open doors of the bus, but their screams scared the attacker away. The bus driver, after making sure that the passengers were okay, and only after reassuring them, closed the doors and continued the journey, managing to write down the license plate number of the scooter on which the attacker then drove away. Having reached the Capo Posillipo depot, highly exhausted and unable to continue the service, the driver called the police, reporting what had happened and leaving the service to go to the nearby San Paolo hospital for treatment.
"Here we go again - says Marco Sansone of the regional coordination of USB private work - it is incredible how there can still be someone who thinks of showing his violence and arrogance in such an obvious way. The umpteenth attack in the middle of the evening - continues Sansone - with the bus packed with travelers returning home and in the city center, a man took it upon himself to block a public transport and threaten to physically attack the driver, throwing punches and kicks at the front door of the bus, which fortunately was closed as per anti-covid regulations to prevent travelers from getting on and off. Otherwise, we would have witnessed yet another physical attack against an ANM worker. We hope that the police will track down the criminal - concluded Sansone -, it would be a deterrent to those who think that you can attack someone who does their job and go unpunished".
