Last night, during their territorial control service, officers from the General Prevention Office, while passing through via Emanuele Gianturco, noticed two men riding a scooter who, at the sight of them, fled, performing maneuvers that were dangerous for road traffic.
The two, after a long chase, had a flat tire on Via Carbonara and, getting off their motorcycle, attempted to escape on foot and one of them got rid of a gun but, not without difficulty, was stopped while the other managed to escape.
The police recovered the weapon, a semi-automatic pistol model TT9 with one round in the barrel complete with a magazine containing four GFL 9 mm Luger cartridges, and carried out a search at the man's home where they found, hidden in a bag, a counterfeit 100 euro banknote which was seized.
Finally, the officers seized the motorcycle on which the two criminals were travelling, ascertaining that it was registered to a third person who was fined for lack of insurance coverage.
Vincenzo Pecoraro, an 18-year-old Neapolitan with a criminal record, was arrested for carrying a firearm in a public place and resisting a public official and reported for spending counterfeit money.
