A day of mobilization with a clear goal: "No to the assault on the Recovery Fund".
This is the central point that pushed the CUB to organize dozens of protests today in front of the Prefectures of various cities and in Montecitorio in Rome.
Hundreds of people took to the streets in Naples, Pisa, Catania, Turin, Milan, Pavia, Caserta, Foggia, Palermo, Verona and the capital. A “NO” to the Draghi government also to protect all those categories of workers who have been stuck for over a year and without income due to the pandemic: “We are facing a very serious problem – declared Marcello AMENDOLA, National Secretary of the CUB, present at the demonstration at the Prefecture of Naples – today here there are several categories of workers completely cut off from the world. They are all precarious: from seasonal workers in tourism, to those who work for cleaning companies, then those in transport. They have been living outside the job market for a year already and will certainly be until next year. Every now and then someone extends a bonus thinking that these workers can live off it. It is unacceptable”.
“We need serious, real, worthy social safety nets and a guaranteed minimum income for all,” continued Marcelo AMENDOLA. CUB asks the Draghi government for a decisive change of direction and has presented a series of concrete proposals:
– A new development model
– A strong public welfare starting from investments in healthcare
– Increase wages and defend workers’ rights
– Continuity of income in a universal and dignified form
– Relaunching economic planning to counter industrial decline
– Development of socially and ecologically oriented production
– Participation and control of workers at all levels
