Two people died and one was seriously injured in a fire at an apartment in Naples.
Firefighters intervened at 5 this morning in via Mercantini, Fuorigrotta area, for the fire in the apartment on the fifth floor of a six-story building. The lifeless bodies of two people were found, while a third was seriously burned. The occupants of the top floor were rescued with two ladder trucks. Brothers and sisters aged 93 and 72 died in the fire in their apartment. The man's son, with burns and who breathed in toxic fumes released by the fire, is in hospital. The causes of the fire are still unclear.
Firefighters are working with law enforcement to determine the cause of the fire. In the meantime, the building is being secured. Neighbors' homes have been temporarily evacuated.
