The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples arrested, in the La Maddalena district of the capital, a 48-year-old of Chinese origin, for an attempted corruption carried out against the financial police who were proceeding to seize counterfeit clothing from him.
It was a patrol of the "Baschi Verdi" of the Pronto Impiego Group who, during the course of economic control activities in the territory, had noticed the presence of a person who was cautiously moving bulky packages outside a shop.
The Guardia di Finanza first found that there were shoes with counterfeit brands inside; they subsequently extended their activities by carrying out a search of the Chinese man's commercial premises.
Hundreds of thousands of shoes and labels with the brands “Saucony”, “Fila”, “New Balance”, “Nike”, “Vans”, “Valentino”, “Dsquared”, Blauer”, “Timberland”, “Alexander McQueen”, “Versace”, “Gucci”, “Adidas” counterfeit, unbranded shoes of the same model as those with the counterfeit logo were found in this way; in the same premises, the actual “counterfeit laboratory” was also discovered, used for the illicit production of the shoes.
During the checks, the shop owner, in a clear attempt to bribe the finance police, slipped 850 euros in cash into the jacket pocket of one of the two, exclaiming: “Take this money and don’t seize anything, go away and have a coffee”.
The Neapolitan Guardia di Finanza proceeded to immediately arrest the entrepreneur for incitement to corruption, also reported for counterfeiting and receiving stolen goods, as well as to seize over 140.000 labels and shoes without any certificate of conformity.
