Michele Formisano, regional secretary of the OR.SA union (railway sector) asks governor De Luca and the president of the IV Transport Commission Luca Cascone, that transport company personnel be included in the planning of the vaccination campaign
The request:
“In planning the vaccination campaign in question, which began a few months ago in our Region, the institutions responsible have understandably identified some categories for which the possibility of priority access to the vaccine is foreseen.
Immediately after healthcare workers, other categories of workers began to be subjected to prophylaxis treatment, including those belonging to essential services, such as law enforcement, school personnel, etc.
Over the past year, Transport workers have continued to carry out their activities in contact with the public, although they have proven to be indispensable in ensuring the mobility of people and therefore an essential service for the Region, they have not always seen the great contribution provided so far recognized.
In particular, transport company personnel, like law enforcement officers and despite the absence of specific regulations, have in fact had to ensure the application of the travel regulations contained in government measures to protect the health of users, even at the risk of their own health.
To date, however, despite a de facto recognition by the institutions of the strategic role played by these workers, they have not yet been included among those essential categories to which priority should be given in the voluntary administration of the vaccine.
For these reasons, the undersigned, hereby, considering the fundamental role played by this personnel, constantly in contact with users and therefore, among other things, a possible vector of contagion on a large scale, requests the Campania Region to include the personnel of transport companies in the categories mentioned above.”
