“Pallavolo Ponticelli” has dedicated the jerseys that the players of the team that will participate in the men's C series championship will wear to one of the symbolic places of the Ponticelli neighborhood, namely the Basilica - Sanctuary dedicated to Maria SS. Della Neve, the oldest in the Vesuvian area (its origins date back to the 13th century) and the church richest in works of art, along the imperial itinerary, after the Sanctuary of Madonna dell'Arco.
This place of worship, dedicated to the Madonna della Neve, who since 1788 has been proclaimed Protector of Ponticelli, is an important point of reference for the entire neighborhood on the eastern outskirts of Naples, a difficult place with little access to services. In addition to the classic activities (celebrations, catechesis, meetings of altar boys, youth group meetings), this place of worship regularly carries out support activities for people in need (distribution of used clothes, food collection, parish listening point and serving of meals), activities that have been intensified in recent times as the number of disadvantaged people has unfortunately increased due to the crisis linked to the pandemic. And it is precisely to reward this commitment that "Pallavolo Ponticelli" has created the shirts for the men's sector with a pattern whose elements refer to the works of art on the vault of the Basilica and the symbols of the Feast of the Madonna della Neve, which is held every year at the beginning of August and which this year did not take place in compliance with the anti-Covid19 rules.
“For us and for all the people of Ponticelli, this place has always been an important point of reference, and it has been even more so in recent times,” explains Gerardo Amato, founder and President of the Nuova Polisportiva Ponticelli.
"The best team is made of the best people. Be united and cohesive, team spirit must be cultivated 24 hours a day, not only during competition. By doing so, you get a lot of satisfaction in sports, and in life!", with these words Don Marco Liardo thanked the team members.
The shirts featuring a texture that testifies to the President and the Company's dedication to their neighborhood were worn for the first time on the opening day of the Serie C championship, which saw Ponticelli triumph against Volleyworld.
