The Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Naples has seized, between Campania and Abruzzo, a large patrimony worth over 10 million euros, attributable to Gaetano Britti, 75 years old, a leading affiliate of the Di Lauro clan.
The ablative measure, which affected real estate between the Municipalities of Naples, Melito di Napoli and Castel di Sangro (L'Aquila), was issued by the Court of Naples - Section for the Application of Preventive Measures - at the request of the Neapolitan District Anti-Mafia Directorate, and was executed by the Economic-Financial Police Unit of Naples.
In particular, the GICO specialists seized buildings and land after having reconstructed how the resources accumulated over time by the family had been favored by the kinship between Britti and his brother-in-law Rosario Pariante, protagonist of the so-called “Cartello Scissionista” during the period of erosion of the organizational structure of the Di Lauro clan.
Before the armed confrontation between the Di Lauro and the Scissionisti, Gaetano Britti, thanks to the relationship of "respect" with his brother-in-law, had enjoyed a privileged channel through which he was entrusted with large sums of money of illicit origin deriving from drug trafficking and extortion which, through his own organized structure, he "reinvested" in usury, money laundering and reinvestment in the legal economy.
Britti's managerial skills in managing the vast loan sharking ring were soon recognized not only by his brother-in-law Pariante Rosario, but also by other top associates of the clan who had entrusted him with their illicit resources to make them profitable.
The financial investigations exploited the investigative evidence previously acquired by the Guardia di Finanza: Britti's membership in the criminal association, the statements of numerous collaborators of justice and finally the total economic inconsistency of the members of his family unit, completely devoid of legitimate sources of income capable of justifying the economic value of the assets.
