The intervention necessary to guarantee electrical safety in the municipalities of Agerola, Pimonte, Amalfi, Atrani, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello and Scala was completed in 10 days
The intervention which saw Terna and
E-Distribuzione engaged in extraordinary maintenance of the 60 kV power line connecting the Primary Cabin of Lettere and that of Agerola which supplies the Amalfi coast, necessary to guarantee the continuity and electrical safety of the municipalities of Agerola, Pimonte, Amalfi, Atrani, Conca dei Marini, Furore, Minori, Positano, Praiano, Ravello and Scala.
The works, which involved a total of approximately 80 resources, including technicians and operators, concluded with the complete replacement of the armaments (including the installation of anti-salt insulators) and conductors (which date back approximately 50 years), as well as the guard rope along the 13 km of the line.
To ensure continuity of service to citizens during the works, Terna and E-Distribuzione have implemented an emergency plan that has provided for the use of approximately 70 generators of different sizes. Furthermore, thanks to a constant presence throughout the 24 hours of E-Distribuzione in the territory and a surveillance service on the generators, it has been possible to minimize the impacts on users.
To limit the duration of the construction site, two companies were involved whose activities, although on different routes, were carried out simultaneously. Given the particular orography of the territory, the use of the helicopter was essential for the rapid execution of the activities, with which all the necessary materials and equipment were transported; this method also allowed not to engage the road network and to preserve the environment since it was not necessary to open roads within the Parco dei Monti Lattari.
The intervention just concluded can be considered unique in its kind. In the last 50 years, in fact, on the 60 kV Agerola -Lettere line it had never been necessary to make the high voltage unavailable for several days. Today's is therefore an important result made possible thanks to the synergy between the two companies, the Prefectures of Naples and Salerno and the municipalities involved.
