Torre Annunziata, Carabinieri sweep checks: 1 arrest, 4 reports and 13 Covid fines
I Carabinieri of the Torre Annunziata Company, together with those of the "Campania" Regiment, carried out a territorial control service ordered by the Provincial Command of Naples in the southern area of the city of Oplonti and in the surrounding municipalities.
Between Pompei and Castellammare di Stabia, the military of the Operations Section identified a 60-year-old who was making suspicious movements on board his vehicle. He was followed and caught selling 16 grams of marijuana to a buyer who was then stopped and reported to the Prefect as a drug user.
During the search of his vehicle, the officers found another 96 grams of marijuana. The man was arrested red-handed for possession and dealing of narcotics.
Still in Pompeii, the Carabinieri of the local station, in one of the numerous checkpoints organized in the city, identified two non-EU citizens aged 44 and 34 who were driving a vehicle that had been stolen three days ago. Both were reported for receiving stolen goods. The vehicle will be returned to its rightful owner. The 34-year-old was later found to be an illegal immigrant and was therefore also reported for violating the regulations on foreigners.
In Trecase, the military of the local station reported a 16-year-old for driving without a license, caught during a checkpoint driving a moped.
Particular attention was given to monitoring compliance with anti-contagion regulations.
In Torre Annunziata, in via Simonetti, the activity of a bar was suspended, inside which the military found the presence of several customers who were consuming drinks despite the imposed bans. Overall, in Torre Annunziata, 13 other people were fined, for failure to use protective devices and for failure to comply with the ban on travel between different municipalities except for proven reasons.
138 people identified during road checks and 17 fines issued for violations of the highway code. 2 vehicles were seized.
