Millions of euros of unpaid water: meters registered to deceased people. The municipality of Aversa approves the resolution to 'normalize' the user database

“Today we continue to open the doors of the future to the city and we put a tombstone on the past”, announces the mayor of Aversa Alfonso Golia revealing the approval in the council of the resolution presented by the councilor Francesca Sagliocco "with which we are moving forward with the normalization process of the database of users of the integrated water service. Thanks to this work we have started the transfers of water meters registered to deceased people. Obviously it should be emphasized that there are those who as heirs have not shirked their duty, but many positions are in arrears, and all this has contributed to creating a million-dollar abyss".

The mayor defines himself as “proud of the great work that we carry out every day, working until late at night together with the municipal collaborators. Surely the abyss of the municipal accounts has widened beyond measure and the city has been placed on the shoulders of honest citizens, leaving thousands and thousands of people not to pay the fees, especially those of the integrated water service. Water. We have not looked the other way and have started this process of recovery of the city, which many try to oppose in order to maintain the status quo. The normalization of fees and taxes is a fundamental step to recover the city, improve services and liveability”.

“The time is over when honest people will feel marginalized,” adds Golia. “The time is over when the virtue of respecting the community is seen as a weakness, the time is over when we burden the pockets of those who have a civic sense regardless of the presence or absence of controls, the time is over when we close our eyes to the chasms in municipal accounts and put it off until tomorrow. The time has come when we must restore dignity to public utility services by asking those who have taken without paying. We will not stop, they will not stop us. I believe in it.”

A sinkhole opens in front of the prison in Aversa: a garbage truck collapses.

Aversa – Moments of fear this morning in the heart of Aversa, where a sudden road collapse nearly turned tragic. Near the church of San Rocco, right along the perimeter fence of the prison toward Via Gaspare Virgilio, the heavy paving gave way under the wheels of a Tekra vehicle, the company responsible for municipal waste management. The accident occurred in a fraction of a second: the historic pavement could not support the weight of the vehicle, which was partially engulfed by the road. Fortunately, despite the strong jolt and the risk of it overturning, no injuries were reported among the sanitation workers or passersby who were in the area at that time. Municipal technicians and law enforcement quickly arrived at the scene of the accident to cordon off the area and begin to remove the vehicle. The damage to the vehicle appears significant, but residents are more concerned about the state of the city's roads. Today's episode is yet another wake-up call for a well-known situation: in several parts of the historic center,…

After nearly thirteen years, one of the most painful and controversial legal cases in the Caserta area has come to a close. The Naples Court of Appeal has acquitted the sole defendant in the murder of Emanuele Di Caterino, the 13-year-old stabbed to death on April 7, 2013, in Aversa, during an argument between teenagers. The defendant, now 29 but still a minor at the time, was accused of fatally stabbing the young man during a street fight. This tragedy shocked the Aversa community and sparked a long and complex legal process, marked by conflicting rulings, postponements, and retrials. Over the years, the case has gone through various levels of jurisdiction, with an initial conviction, subsequent appeals, and a new appeal trial ordered to reevaluate the circumstances of the incident and the defendant's position. At the heart of the proceedings is the reconstruction of the brawl and the assessment of criminal responsibility in a context of sudden violence between very young people. At the last hearing, the Deputy Attorney General had requested an acquittal, believing the stabbing had occurred in self-defense. This argument…

Aversa – Caught attempting to smuggle drugs into prison by throwing packages over the wall, a man was stopped and arrested in Aversa by the Penitentiary Police. The operation began near the inmate walking areas. During the operation, officers seized approximately 500 grams of hashish. After the usual formalities, the man was taken to the Santa Maria Capua Vetere prison and held there. The USPP (Prison for the Prevention of Illegal Drugs) announced the incident. Provincial Secretary Angelo Palumbo expressed his "congratulations on the brilliant operation," noting that the operation was completed "despite the chronic staff shortage" and emphasizing the "spirit of sacrifice" of the staff in ensuring order and security within the prison. Ciro Auricchio and Giuseppe Moretti, regional secretary and president of the USPP, respectively, also spoke on the matter. They said the arrest confirms the Penitentiary Police's ability to "intercept and neutralize the continuous attempts to smuggle drugs into prisons."
