Absenteeism at the Employment Centre Theano: 17 investigated. Out doing something completely different for a thousand hours in 5 months
According to the entry and exit records, which falsely certified their presence, they were regularly at their workplace, but in reality they were out doing something completely different: 17 people are under investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere for fraud against a public entity and false certifications; they are 15 employees and two former employees of the Teano Employment Center, in the province of Caserta.
The investigation
The investigation, which began following a report from ANAC (the National Anti-Corruption Authority), refers to numerous episodes of absenteeism perpetrated by the suspects over a five-month period in 2019, during which, as was ascertained by the investigations of the Economic and Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Caserta, the suspects were unjustifiably absent from work for a total of approximately one thousand hours.
During the investigation, the military of the Fiamme Gialle, by order of the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, also seized from the suspects the total sum of 20 thousand euros, considered the sum unduly received by the suspects as remuneration. Eight of the seventeen suspects, whose position was found to be more serious, were also reached by the measures of the obligation to report to the judicial police, as ordered by the investigating judge of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere by order of the local Public Prosecutor's Office.
The investigation revealed that the suspects falsified the entry and exit times on the daily attendance register, then punched the time card.
