Notices of investigation, D'Avino (FIMP): 'Criminal shield needed, vaccination campaign risks a halt'
“The notices of investigation received from doctors and nurses considered, except for the presumption of innocence, responsible for the death of Navy Petty Officer Stefano Paternò, attributed to the administration of a dose of vaccine against Sars-Cov2 infection, have struck us very much and made us think about the need to provide complete information to all private pediatricians who, out of a high sense of duty, have responded enthusiastically to the appeal made by the company management”.
The AstraZeneca earthquake does not leave indifferent private pediatricians, and doctors in particular, who do not want to be scapegoats in a context that is still very confused and full of contradictions.

“The risk – says Antonio D'Avino, national vice president FIMP – is that these notices of investigation become a strong deterrent, putting the vaccination campaign at risk, precisely at the moment in which the entire medical profession has given its availability. It is inconceivable that doctors who responded “present” to the State's appeal now see notices of investigation delivered”.
D'Avino's request
Antonio D'Avino strongly requests that we proceed with an extraordinary intervention, because the context in which we are operating is extraordinary. "A measure to be adopted immediately to protect doctors from possible lawsuits and criminal liability related to the administration of vaccines. The State must act as guarantor and restore the necessary serenity to professionals". The request is obviously addressed to the Draghi Government and to all political forces so that rules are immediately available that can exempt doctors from criminal liability for negligence. "Pediatricians - concludes D'Avino - join an appeal that is raised by the entire category to arrive as soon as possible at an ad hoc Decree Law that protects citizens and those who work to emerge from the nightmare of the pandemic".
