The victim worked as a caregiver for a married couple aged 88 and 86. According to an initial reconstruction, investigators hypothesize that the woman first saved the two elderly people but then returned home to try to recover something, unable to get out due to the flames and smoke and losing her life. The couple were rescued and hospitalized in Battipaglia but their conditions are not worrying.
FIRE CAUSED BY A STOVE
According to the investigations carried out by the firefighters, the origin of the flames is to be attributed to a malfunction of a stove, equipped with a LPG cylinder, which was turned on in the couple's bedroom. Perhaps a spark set fire to a blanket near the stove. The hypothesis of a gas leak has been excluded, given that the firefighters found both the stove and the cylinder intact. The house was devastated by the fire. The body has now been entrusted to a coroner's examination, but could be released as early as this morning.
