Campi Flegrei, the first ecological campaign of nautical decarbonization starts in Campania. The “Green Sandi yacht” project for the protection of the sea starts from Campi Flegrei, thanks to the commitment of three Neapolitan entrepreneurs.
Campania sets the course for sustainability: from Campi Flegrei the “Green Sandi Yacht” decarbonization campaign begins. Three Neapolitan entrepreneurs are involved in an international ecological project, for the protection of marine waters
By joining the international project “Carbon off set” for the protection of the environment, three Neapolitan entrepreneurs have launched in Campania the first ecological campaign for the diffusion of naval decarbonization entitled “Green Sandi Yacht”, a process aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Brothers Pasquale and Domenico Palumbo and Giulio Fiertler started from Campi Flegrei with a program for the decarbonization of consumption, which allocates a portion of diesel expenditure to projects for the development of renewable energy, such as the construction of hydraulic turbines and wind turbines in Africa.
“We have decided to commit ourselves to reducing the consumption of environmentally polluting GHGs – says Fiertler – and for this reason, with the yacht Sandy IV, we have joined the off-setting project in collaboration with the British “Yacht carbon off set”, which offers the option of decarbonising the emissions produced during cruises, helping to finance important environmental campaigns”.
Environmental sustainability
The watchword is “environmental sustainability”, which becomes a valid tool to improve the quality of life while respecting the planet through naval decarbonization. “For the nautical community, respect for the environment has become a necessary requirement – reiterates Pasquale Palumbo – and carbon offsetting is certainly a proactive response to its reduction”.
Decarbonisation
Decarbonization operations involve the use of lower speeds, the ship/port interface and the optimization of travel plans and fleet management. “Sustainable luxury is possible by managing yachts efficiently and ecologically,” comments Domenico Palumbo, “as we have done with our Sandi IV, which also means adopting measures to reduce fuel consumption, involving both owners and guests on board, spreading awareness of the link between greenhouse gases and climate change. To achieve this, for example, we will have to use lighter materials with a more streamlined line that causes less friction, more efficiency of machinery, a reduction in heat waste and, above all, greater assistance from the wind.” Guests of the yacht who have joined the ecological campaign will be issued a certificate, as evidence of their commitment to protecting the environment and in particular the sea.

Since mid-December 2025, the average rate has stabilized at 15 millimeters...
