The facade of the Royal Palace of Caserta is symbolically colored lilac, in compliance with the National Day of the Lilac Ribbon, now in its tenth edition and created to raise awareness among the population about eating disorders.
La National Purple Ribbon Day was promoted for the first time in 2012 by the Association “Mi Nutro di Vita” (Pieve Ligure – GE). The initiative was started by a father, Stefano Tavilla, who lost his daughter Giulia at just 17 years old to bulimia (on the waiting list for hospitalization in a dedicated facility) and falls on March 15, the very day of her passing.
This Day offers hope to those who are still struggling and aims to raise awareness on the issue of Eating Disorders (ED): Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating, Obesity, EDNOS, and many new forms.
