Castellammare, the photo of the mayor Gaetano Cimmino immortalized outside a bar in Piazza Spartaco while sipping a coffee has gone viral.
L’immagine diffusa sui social è frutto di un acceso dibattito tra giovani sulle misure ordinate proprio dal Sindaco per prevenire la diffusione del contagio. Su Cimmino, primo in Italia a varare la zona rossa rafforzata, pioggia di critiche per la limitazione della mobilità dei giovani under 24 dalle 18 mentre il coprifuoco valido per tutti scatta alle 20. Questa cosa non è piaciuta ai giovani stabiesi che hanno ampiamente criticato la decisione assunta dal Sindaco minacciando anche di agire per vie legali. Il Sindaco ha risposto ai tanti commenti, molti dei quali anche molto “coloriti”, riferendosi in particolare a coloro che “credono che sui social possano offendere ed insultare, consiglio di tornare a scuola (appena possibile) e consiglio ai genitori di tenere d’occhio i cellulari dei propri figlio”.

“A mayor never signs an ordinance lightly. He does it reluctantly like a good father who must protect his children, in this case his citizens. It is useless to summarize the data that are there for all to see with hundreds of infections per day. I will limit myself to mentioning one, namely the exponential increase in infections from February 15 to 28 of citizens in the age group affected by the ordinance that I signed yesterday: the percentage of incidence of positives on the swabs carried out is equal to 23.56% in the age group between 14 and 24, compared to 18.5% in all the remaining age groups put together. These are a few days of sacrifices, be responsible, show that you are true citizens of Castellammare di Stabia. Let's lower the numbers and then let's take back our lives".
The controversy of the youth
Young people have not digested this choice so much that they have spread a photo on social media of the mayor drinking a coffee outside a well-known bar in the square in the afternoon, violating his own ordinance to the point where it expressly prohibits "consuming take-away food and drinks on the street". The photo, which appeared on social media, could be traced back to yesterday morning, we hypothesize, but the young people who shared it en masse are fully convinced.
