In Caiazzo, in the Caserta area, the overtaking of a truck caused a violent air pocket that caused the cyclist to lose his balance and be hit by a car.

It was supposed to be a quiet bike ride but it turned into a tragedy. The victim is a 67-year-old man from San Tammaro, in the province of Caserta. The cyclist was riding down the provincial road that connects Caserta with Caiazzo, in the Gradilli area, when he was overtaken by a truck at high speed.

The dynamics of the accident

The air pocket caused by the heavy vehicle literally swallowed the 67-year-old who lost his balance and fell onto the asphalt. At the same time, a car came in the same direction and hit the cyclist. The driver of the vehicle was a resident who immediately stopped and alerted the emergency services. Arriving at the scene of the accident, medical personnel immediately declared the man's conditions critical and he died shortly after while being transported to the hospital.
