The white stork returns to nest in the Vallo di Diano.
For a few days now, a male specimen has been preparing the nest on the Enel pylon located in the locality of Termini in Sala Consilina, near the Tanagro river.

The event has been repeated consecutively for 26 years. Every year the white stork chooses to nest on the same high voltage pylon made safe by Enel technicians.
Over 26 stork chicks have been born in Termini in 60 years.
“This year too we will be vigilant – says Mario Frari, environmental guard of the volunteer association Ataps – to prevent poaching phenomena, ensuring the storks maximum tranquility”.
La ciconia ciconia, this is the scientific name, arrives in Vallo di Diano between March and April. The female lays an average of 5-6 eggs. The chicks leave the nest after about 85 days from birth and, in August, are ready to migrate to South Africa for wintering.
