Covid, crime and open-air landfills. The drama of Campania entrepreneurs
The situation of Campania entrepreneurs is becoming more complicated and dramatic every day. In addition to the crisis generated by the emergency Covid and from the continuous criminal attacks, with vandal raids, thefts and robberies, there are those who also have to deal with the waste.
It happens in Casandrino, where the production activity of a box factory is practically impossible due to an open-air landfill that looms right in front of the company entrance.
“Covid has put us in very serious difficulty, we work on a very reduced cycle, every day I have a thousand thoughts but to these I must add those for the garbage that they continue to dump daily in front of the gates. Waste of all kinds, there is a nauseating smell and a degradation that makes me ashamed to even have customers come here. For a year now it has become customary to come and throw waste in this area, which has become a real landfill, citizens, companies, those who do restoration work come here. The piles of waste hinder the trucks that have to enter the gates and also customers and representatives, so it is not possible to continue. We have made a thousand reports but they decide to intervene only when we drown in the waste. They clean the area but the next day we are back to square one. A couple of times I installed cameras but they stole them and I gave up. We are exasperated.” - is the complaint of an entrepreneur who turned to the Regional Councilor of Europa Verde Francesco Emilio Borrelli.
"We have requested remediation interventions and requested that the area be monitored and continuously monitored, we must fight and stop this uncivil and criminal phenomenon that damages entrepreneurs, citizens and poisons our land. We need zero tolerance for polluting our territory. We are close to the entrepreneurs who despite the thousand difficulties continue to carry on their activities producing and giving work to many people. We must protect them." - declared Councilor Borrelli.
