The facts
This morning, in execution of an order from the Naples Public Prosecutor's Office, a house in the island municipality was to be demolished, on which a demolition order had been pending for several years but for which an application for amnesty had been submitted in 2003; in recent days the owner's lawyers had requested a halt to the measure in consideration of the precarious health conditions of the latter and the difficulty of finding another accommodation during the red zone, which however was not granted.

This morning, after the arrival of the company responsible for demolishing the building and the workers clearing out the furnishings and personal effects of the occupants, the intervention of the coroner was requested to ascertain the health status of the owner's wife who presents the typical symptoms of coronavirus.
The appeal of the bishop of Caserta
In the meantime, the Bishop of Caserta, Monsignor Lagnese, and current regent of the diocese of Ischia, has appealed to the matter. He has written to the Attorney General of Naples asking for the demolition to be suspended, considering the serious social crisis that weighs on the island and the health conditions of the owner of the house to be demolished.
The building is currently under police surveillance and the coroner's report is awaited, which could delay the demolition.
