Now we work through Ugo Autuori, for a worthy presentation and for a choral embrace from the fans and the entire city
“The idea certainly comes from a very strong emotional push – says Domenico Sepe, a Neapolitan sculptor and painter who decided to carve a statue of Maradona – Losing Maradona was like losing a member of the family and I didn’t just want to make a sculpture: I wanted to tell the emotion I felt. I imagined a sculpture that told the story of a Greek god. The great sculptors of the past used athletes to tell the story of gods; in this case we have an athlete who was like a God on the field.
The image we see is the real one but the work, thanks to a base that will complete it, will be four meters high. I have already said that I am willing to donate this work to all the Neapolitan people and I believe that the most suitable place is precisely the outside of the stadium" concluded the sculptor.
