As of today, there are 5,7 million students in distance learning throughout Italy, or two out of three.
And the situation could get worse, according to some projections 9 out of 10 Italian students, 90,1% of the almost 8,5 million students enrolled in state and private schools, in the next few days risk ending up in distance learning with 7,6 million children who would remain at home. Committees of parents and teachers and students from north to south are protesting: today, principals, lessons in the square and banners on the doors of schools and on the windows of houses have been organized by the Priority to School Committee. This morning in Turin, the anti-dad students Anita, Lisa and Maia will be in Piazza Castello, in front of the Turin offices of the Piedmont Region.
THE SITUATION REGION BY REGION
In LOMBARDY only nurseries remain open, all other schools, including universities, remain closed until March 14th due to an order by Governor Fontana who extended the dark orange zone to the entire region. In VENETO, from today orange, schools remain open with 50% distance learning. It starts in AGENDA NEWS reinforced orange: in 20 districts out of 38 distance learning will be 100%, in the others, including the city of Turin, it is planned from the second year of middle school. The EMILIA ROMAGNA, orange, provides for in-person schooling with 50% of high school students. The province of Reggio Emilia is dark orange, with distance learning from elementary school onwards. In the red zones (province of Modena, Bologna, Rimini, Ravenna, Forli'-Cesena) all schools will be in distance learning, including childcare services. Exceptions to distance learning will be for disabled students and necessary laboratories. In FRIULI VENEZIA GIULIA, orange from today, based on an order from Governor Fedriga, from today distance learning will be carried out for middle school, high school and university students. The measure has instead already been in force since yesterday for the areas of Gorizia and Udine, provinces for which Fedriga himself had already ordered the orange zone (since yesterday). In CALABRIA – which is in the yellow zone – from today and for two weeks all schools of all levels will 'remain closed due to an order from President Spirli' which provides for the activation of distance learning. Only nurseries remain open. In BASILICATA, which is a red zone, all schools of all levels will remain closed at least until March 14. Also in CAMPANIA, which is red from today, everyone in distance learning, including universities. Despite the SARDINIA both in the white zone, since last Monday President Solinas, through an ordinance, has maintained restrictive measures for high schools: return to class from the current 50 to a maximum of 75%. Universities, on the other hand, can arrange lessons in distance learning or in person. Schools remain closed in some municipalities in lockdown. From today and for the entire week, schools in 40 of the 273 municipalities of the TUSCANY. The closure was ordered for 15 municipalities by order of governor Giani; then there are 20 municipalities in the province of Pistoia and the municipalities of Cecina (Livorno) and Castellina Marittima (Pisa) where it is automatic as they are red zones. In Arezzo, nursery schools and kindergartens remain open, all the others are closed; in Follonica (Grosseto), high schools and middle schools are closed. From today in LIGURIA all high schools will be in distance learning, according to an ordinance by President Toti. In VALLE D'AOSTA, yellow band, all schools remain open. For high schools, only a percentage of students are expected to enter the classroom while the others are in distance learning. In SOUTH TYROL elementary schools are open with in-person teaching, middle and high schools with distance learning. In TRENTINO – orange – schools remain open, from nursery schools to middle schools, and in high schools lessons continue in person at 50%, according to an order by President Fugatti. Students from Giovo, a red zone, will also go to school. In UMBRIA, which is orange, will continue distance learning until March 21st for all primary and secondary schools in Perugia. In the province of Terni, secondary schools will be in attendance at 50%. Schools closed in Orvieto, due to a mayoral order. Distance learning at 100% in PUGLIA until March 14, exceptions for disabled people. In LAZIO, which is in yellow, schools in attendance up to middle school, from high school onwards distance learning and attendance. The exception is Frosinone, a red zone from today, where all schools will be closed. In MARCHE in Ancona and Macerata from 100%; in Pesaro Urbino, Fermo and Ascoli Piceno – in orange – distance learning in middle and high schools; in Sant'Elpidio a Mare (Fermo) the mayor has also closed nurseries and kindergartens. SICILY remains yellow but in 12 municipalities from today to March 13 schools will be closed, by order of governor Musumeci. In the other municipalities lessons at 50%. In ABRUZZO schools will remain in distance learning until March 14, as well as in MOLISE.
