Environmental disaster in Regi Lagni, 35 buffalo farmers acquitted

The judges acquitted Luciano D'Auria, Francesco Cantile, Carlo Corvino, Alberto Migliaccio, Alfonsina Coppola, Pasquale Galoppo, Antonietta Di Puorto, Salvatore Schiavone, Agostino Caprio, Antonio Morrone, Arturo Noviello, Valentino Diana, Rinaldo Diana, Luigi Letizia, Osvaldo Caprio, Giovanni Montesano, Giovanni D'Ausilio, Carmine Palmese, Arturo Pagano, Ernesto Esposito, Crescenzo Di Bona, Luigi Russo, Antonio Corvino, Vincenzo Piccolo, Luigi Serao, Bruno Belformato, Emma Forgione, Giovanna Schiavone, Vincenzo Diana, Rosa Russo, Antonio Zara, Valerio Zara, Elio D'Alessandro, Antonio D'Alessandro and Giovanni Iovino. The arguments of the defendants' defense lawyers were accepted. The defense team included, among others, lawyers Guido Diana, Gianluca Giordano, Nando Letizia, Luigi Trocciola, Alessandro Diana and Domenico Della Gatta.
The operation in which they were involved led to the issuance, in 2010, of personal and real precautionary measures. The owners of the livestock farms were accused of having systematically violated the laws on the correct management of the water and waste cycle, contributing to the environmental disaster of the Regi Lagni, in which rotting carcasses of cars and animals were found.
