Drugs from Albania headed to Campania, Lazio and Trentino: 14 people sent to trial
Lecce. The Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate, coordinated by the Lecce DDA, has concluded a complex investigative activity that has led to the indictment of 14 people. The operation, called “Nuovi orizzonti” and launched in 2015, has allowed the dismantling of an Italian-Albanian criminal association aimed at trafficking and dealing in narcotics.
The organization, using powerful vessels, imported large quantities of marijuana from Albania, to then distribute it in various Italian locations, particularly in Trentino Alto Adige, Lazio and Campania. During the investigation, approximately 50 kg of the narcotic substance were seized and, on two separate occasions, two people were arrested.
Furthermore, within the scope of the same operation, following a preventive measure proposal signed by the director of the DIA against the main suspect, the seizure and subsequent confiscation of two villas located in Lecce, two motorcycles and financial accounts registered to him and his relatives were carried out, for a total value of approximately 900 thousand Euro.
