Mom sends drugs to son in prison hidden in clothes package. It happened in Carinola prison.
The discovery was made during checks by Penitentiary Police personnel. The mother of a thirty-year-old prisoner sent a package containing clothes to her detained son, via an express courier transport company. During the check of the contents, a 50-gram hashish-type narcotic substance was found and seized, hidden inside the elastic bands of a pair of trousers and a tracksuit in the hope of being able to elude checks by Penitentiary Police personnel.
The author of the postal package and the recipient, both have been reported to the competent judicial authority.
This was announced by the Regional Secretary of OSAPP Campania Vincenzo Palmieri.
"The prison police employed in the parcel control service at the criminal record office - Palmieri declared - once again and in other circumstances have demonstrated high professionalism and a sense of duty in carrying out this delicate task to prevent the easy introduction of objects and substances not permitted by law and regulation that could compromise the safety of people, disturb order and jeopardize their security, never lowering their guard in implementing all those measures aimed at preventing the commission of crimes, despite the difficult conditions they are going through in this pandemic period".
Palmieri then together with the other regional secretary Luigi Castaldo explain: “Despite the serious critical issues at the Carinola Prison, the few available staff fulfill their institutional mandate with a high sense of duty and a strong spirit of self-denial, dealing a clear blow to crime in the collective interest.
The applause goes exclusively to all the front-line staff excellently coordinated by the current department commander. Once again the Penitentiary Police of the Carinola prison stands out for its high professional skills and high sense of duty after what it is experiencing in the battle against Covid-19. As a union we will do everything possible to stand alongside the workers and contribute to improving the work system in the interest of all, urging the DAP leaders to also pay greater attention to the next assignment of Police officers in those penitentiary facilities such as Carinola and not only, which are embedded in neighboring territories and social fabrics with a high criminal intensity where the culture of illegality reigns”.
