Caserta, waste set on fire at the entrance of the Cathedral, church walls damaged
“Waste set on fire outside the Caserta Cathedral. It was neatly grouped in a corner and then set on fire. It is difficult to accept that all this really happened. The act of vandalism was committed right in the center and with the indifference of many. The wall of the cathedral is blackened by fire for much of its height. The use of the Caserta Cathedral as an incinerator is criminal behavior that must be punished, let's shed light on those responsible. Nowadays, criminals no longer even need to set fire to garbage in out-of-the-way streets, they do it right in the center. Let's find out whether the act was planned by those who had the task of collecting the waste and preferred to dispose of it on site by setting it on fire, or whether it was the work of the vandal on duty”.
This was stated by Francesco Emilio Borrelli, regional councilor of Europa Verde and Rita Martone, coordinator of Europa Verde in Caserta, who received the citizens' complaint for the incident that occurred during the night between Friday and Saturday.
