The first mayor of Sorrento on Ermal Meta: “I would like to take him to the places that inspired Dalla’s masterpiece”
"We are waiting for Ermal Meta with open arms. I would be happy to accompany him live to the places that inspired Lucio Dalla in writing that beautiful song", says the mayor of Sorrento, Massimo Coppola, interviewed by Adnkronos.
Coppola appreciated the singer's version of the masterpiece that Dalla wrote from a room in one of the most suggestive hotels on the Sorrento Peninsula. It is the Excelsior Vittoria, where the singer-songwriter from Bologna was hosted in the same room that had hosted the tenor Enrico Caruso for a long time.
“Ermal Meta – Coppola emphasizes – made an intelligent choice, proposing a revised and corrected version. It was the only possible choice to approach that masterpiece. I liked it and it was not obvious, given that he had to deal as an Albanian also with a phrase in Neapolitan. Instead it was credible and intense and in fact it also came first among the covers”, he adds.
“Dalla's song, like our landscape and our coast, are immortal heritages and yesterday on the stage of Sanremo we had yet another testimony of this”, continues the mayor who offers “congratulations to Amadeus and Fiorello for this courageous Sanremo that brings music and good humor into the homes of Italians at a time when it is important to maintain hope and optimism”.
