Ex-wife illegally detains Italian daughter in Russia. Pellegrino (IV) writes to Di Maio: “Guarantee repatriation of little Sofia”
“To the attention of the Honorable Luigi Di Maio, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, as a father and regional councilor in Campania, I felt the duty to bring the delicate and sad story of one of our fellow citizens, Mr. Luigi Di Salvio from Teggiano in the province of Salerno, who has been living a dramatic situation of injustice in Russia for two years. A very serious situation if we consider that the “first” victim is a minor of only four years old. His daughter Sofia Di Salvio, an Italian citizen, has been in Russia since September 2018, where his ex-wife and Russian citizen took her and then held her without her father's consent”. These are the words of Tommaso Pellegrino, group leader of Italia Viva in the Regional Council.
The note
“Despite the fact that the Russian authorities and the Russian Supreme Court have ruled in favour of Mr. Di Salvio – writes Pilgrim in the note addressed to Minister Di Maio – recognizing the crime of child abduction by his ex-wife, despite the assistance of the Italian authorities in Moscow, the Russian judicial police has so far been unable to execute the provisions of the sentences and, lastly, such execution has been made even more complicated due to the block of activities, following the global pandemic. In a year and a half, since the execution phase began in Russia, the involvement of the Italian consular authorities, it must be concluded, has so far been substantially ineffective. The order given by the Russian judge is clear and the dictates of the bilateral agreements between Italy and Russia on legal and judicial cooperation are also clear”.

“Therefore – concludes Pellegrino – I ask you to follow this case and to involve the competent bodies so that Justice can be guaranteed and the rights of a father and an Italian citizen can be protected; I also ask you, if possible, to take all necessary actions against the High Russian Authorities to which the Italian diplomatic authorities have been accredited, so that the sentences are carried out and little Sofia can be repatriated”.
