Favors and bribes at Caserta hospital, sentences requested for former head physician and his wife.
The public prosecutor has requested 5 years of imprisonment for Angelo Costanzo, former director of the Clinical Pathology department of Sant'Anna and San Sebastiano; 4 years for his wife Vincenza Scotti, owner of the Sanatrix laboratory in Caivano and sister of the Nco boss Pasquale Scotti alias 'o Collier; 6 years for Angelina Grillo, from Marcianise, considered the factotum of the department; 3 years for Giovanni Baglivi, pharmaceutical representative of Santa Maria a Vico; 1 year and 4 months each for Maddalena Schioppa, 62 years old. Caserta, Giuseppe Canzano, 67 years old from Caserta, and Domenico Napolitano, 66 years old from Moiano.
In mid-April when the judge's sentence is expected for both the defendants who chose the abbreviated procedure and those who opted for the ordinary one, including the former president of the Province Domenico Zinzi and the former commissioner of the hospital Leonardo Pace.
The investigation in which they are involved had brought to light the illicit management of the Clinical Pathology department of theCaserta hospital. On the one hand, analyses were carried out on behalf of Scotti's private laboratory, on the other, clinical tests were carried out on friends and relatives, without going through the CUP. In one case, according to what emerged from the wiretaps, the feces of a cat were even analysed at the Caserta hospital. A practice that, according to investigators, caused a hole estimated at 5 million euros.
