The Naples Public Prosecutor's Office has requested the reform of the sentence issued in the first instance against Vincenzo Lopresto, sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment, with an abbreviated trial, for the unintentional homicide of his wife, Fortuna Bellisario, which occurred in Naples in 2019.
La Demand they petitioned the Court of Appeal of Naples to find Lopresto guilty of wilful homicide and not of manslaughter. The first-degree trial began by hypothesizing the crime of wilful homicide against the defendant. Subsequently, a reduction to manslaughter was requested, for which the preliminary hearing judge issued a sentence of ten years in prison.

The man, who is in a wheelchair due to walking problems, was recently released from prison and placed under house arrest, after two years of detention, in his mother's home in the Sanità district of Naples. A decision that has aroused strong disapproval in public opinion.
