[Press release]
There is a Neapolitan in the famous Forbes under 30 Italy ranking, the economic newspaper that every year gives space to very young people who have been able to distinguish themselves in the world in different fields ranging from business, to music, to cinema. Among the leaders of the future in the Art & Style category, we read the name of Pasquale D'Avino, born in 1991, an entrepreneur in the fashion sector who rose to fame thanks to the extraordinary results achieved by 'throwback', the fashion brand he created to pay homage to the icons of the past.
Young innovative minds at the foot of Vesuvius
Pasquale D'Avino, known as Pavi, grew up in Cercola, a small town at the foot of Vesuvius. He graduated in law, but soon realized that the legal world would not be his future. So at 22 he created his first fashion company that gave him the tools and experience to create another brand, in streetwear, 'throwback', years later.
The brand was born with the support of his friend and artist Gianpiero D'Alessandro, famous throughout the world for his collaboration with Snoop Dogg and the current one with Justin Bieber. The idea behind the project is to pay homage, through art, printing technology and made in Italy, to the icons of the past, focusing on the power of memories and nostalgia.
In three years, 'throwback' has achieved many goals, such as the closing of prestigious collaborations with Superga (coming out at Easter) Casio Watches, with the historic tie brand E.Marinella. While many celebrities have chosen to wear throwback garments, such as basketball player Marco Belinelli, footballers Thierry Henry and Dries Mertens, up to Alessandro Cattelan and Diletta Leotta.

“I have adapted a very complex business to a smart, light and flexible structure, with a team of 11 collaborators between 18 and 45 years old, both Italian and foreign. This helps us a lot, and in fact even in a tragic moment for fashion like the one we are experiencing, we have grown by 39%”. What is impressive, however, is not the turnover, or the structure, but rather the excellent quality of distribution. “We have always protected quality and not quantity” adds Pasquale. It should also be added that being able to simply have space or a corner in stores like Selfridges or Luisaviaroma, where very often the doors are closed even to large fashion giants, shows the important work that is at the base of relationships and product care.
In Forbes 30 under 30
The milestone of entering the under 30 list of Forbes, is a further milestone in a journey that for D'Avino still has many stages to explore: "Throwback is a concept, a philosophy, a state of mind. Our message "more than fashion" absolutely represents the desire to decline the brand in the world of lifestyle. First of all in music with a collaboration that he will announce soon with his great friend and mentor Antonio Ciotola, a high-sounding name in Italian and Northern European music management.
