“Critical situation at Azienda dei Colli, but the regional network is working. It is important not to create alarmism”.
This is what Maurizio Di Mauro, DG of the Azienda dei Colli (Cotugno, Monaldi and Cto hospitals) said in relation to the SOS launched by the mayor of Calvi Risorta, Giovanni Lombardi, who is the resuscitation doctor at Cotugno. “In relation to the news released in these hours on the situation of hospital beds in Campania, having also heard the Regional Crisis Unit for the implementation of measures for the prevention and management of the COVID-19 epidemiological emergency and the regional operations center of 118, the lack of hospital beds in the regional territory is denied” says Di Mauro.
THE SITUATION IS COMPLEX
“The situation – he adds – is certainly complex and we have registered, in recent days, an increase in the demand for beds in the facilities of the Colli Hospital Trust, a demand that has led to a saturation of intensive and sub-intensive care hospitalizations at the Cotugno and Monaldi hospitals, but the regional network works and, thanks to transfers and turnover, we are able to meet the demand”.
"Furthermore, it is categorically denied that healthcare could be lost in our region. We have been fighting this virus for over a year and, even in times of great difficulty, we have always given our all, assisting everyone in the best possible way. Alarmist statements that spread panic among the population should be avoided," he concludes.
