Brain Death for Teacher Vaccinated with Astrazeneca

Brain death declared for teacher Augusta Turiaco, 55 years old, hospitalized for days at the Policlinico of Messina.

The woman was being treated for a cerebral hemorrhage due to thrombosis, for which she had undergone surgery. She was declared brain dead last night after a week in a medically induced coma. The woman had felt ill after receiving the AstraZeneca vaccine. The case was reported by Messina Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation to assess whether there is a correlation between the thrombosis and the vaccine that had been administered to her 13 days before hospitalization.

Her two children, her husband, and her brothers have launched an appeal to the people of Messina: “Get vaccinated, it’s the only way out of the pandemic. Augusta was an extraordinary person in her normality, she spent her life first in concert halls and then at school as a teacher. An honest citizen and woman, in recent weeks she had enthusiastically undergone the vaccination campaign, only to then find herself involved in a nightmare that unfortunately had an unfortunate outcome. As an extreme gesture of love, she had expressed her desire to donate her organs”. The family thanks “the commendable effort of the Doctors of the Policlinico of Messina who have followed the story incessantly, doing everything possible”.
